I Performed @ a Queer House Party! | INRCHLD Social

This past Saturday, I got to perform at INRCHLD Social which was my favourite Inrchld show ever. It was a house party and the atmosphere was so fun and intimate. I wore an outfit that I really love and I performed some songs from XONIKA! as well as some music I've never performed before. I performed my song "EYELASH!" for the first time, which was insanely fun to perform. I got everyone to jump around with me and it was a very freeing, liberating feeling as a person who constantly feels stiff and uptight. Considering the fact that I've had extreme social anxiety my whole life, performing never feels "normal" for me. When I think about the time I was too scared to go on stage with my friend at an open mic night a year ago before I ever performed, it gives me the happiest feeling to know that I've developed the confidence to do this consistently. I was really happy to have some good friends there with me and I got to see some people that I haven't seen in a long time. I also met some new people who said some really kind words. I learned how important it is to invite people to shows even if I think they might be busy or might not want to come, because if they do show up, it adds a lot to the experience. I'm not good at talking and mingling with people at parties (or in general) so it really helps me feel less overwhelmed when I have my friends there. I'm also getting the clothing portion of my XyonnyxX brand off the ground. I made an Instagram post asking if anyone wanted to collaborate with me to design clothes and some friends are interested. I'm extremely grateful for the friends I've met online and at music shows in the past year. I subconsciously thought I would do all the clothes myself, but I realized that I now have a circle of super artistic queer people in my life now and I definitely want to make stuff with them. Reaching out to people made me realize that I have friends who have experience with doing tie-dye, which is super useful for the aesthetic I'm going for. I'm excited to get started! Thank you for reading. <3
